FitzBeck Showreel

Promoting tertiary innovation

Putea Arapiki Ako Recipients

FitzBeck has shot a series of video clips for the Tertiary Education Commission about its Putea Arapiki Ako recipients. The 5 to 10 minute clips are aimed at teachers and kaiako who work with Māori and Pasifika students and show how to use Matauranga Māori and Pasifika worldviews to lift achievement in literacy and numeracy.

The completed clips have been placed online so they can be easily accessed by tutors around the country. Video online is a quick and cost effective way to spread your new ideas.

Multimedia for Royal Society

Royal Society Multimedia

The Royal Society of New Zealand has been promoting, investing and celebrating excellence in people and ideas in New Zealand since 1867.

To support the launch of their new website and other events, we developed a dynamic multimedia for the Royal Society, celebrating its work in rewarding, connecting, encouraging, honouring, supporting and fulfilling people in science, technology and the humanities.

Multimedia can really bring a subject to life, combining words, graphics, photos and music into communication that has real impact.

Client feedback: I just wanted to say thank you for all the fantastic work you did putting together our new showreel! We used it at the AGM last week and it was very successful. I’m hoping our staff will also make good use of the showreel for presentations and conferences. So thanks again for all your hard work.

DVD tutorials for Pasifika

Knowing Your Learner DVD

The Tertiary Education Commission runs literacy and numeracy professional development initiatives for tertiary tutors to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes for students.

To support this work, we produced a DVD resource that aims to help tutors develop greater understanding of Pasifika peoples and provide a Pasifika lens through which to view tertiary teaching.

The project was a successful collaboration between FitzBeck, the TEC, Pasifika education experts and staff and tutors at Whitireia Polytechnic. The DVD is the second in a series, and has been well received by tertiary tutors.

Client feedback: FitzBeck Creative brought experience and expertise to the project and were able to quickly understand and align with the expectations and requirements of the TEC. The FitzBeck team were flexible, accommodating and easy to work with. The final product was better than hoped for and has been a success in the sector.

Healthcare Heroes DVD

Healthcare Heroes - promotional DVD clip

Working with 21 schools in Auckland, the Pasifika Medical Association recently launched a promotional campaign to switch secondary students on to a career in the Pacific health sector.

Through the Healthcare Heroes programme, students can access mentors to help them prepare academically for study in a health-related qualification, and have opportunities to gain scholarships, work experience and training in first aid.

Using iconic Pacific figures like DJs, TV stars, sports heroes and other role models, we created a bright and funky DVD for the campaign and it’s been going down a storm with students.

Pedal to the metal for Supersite

Brendan Foote Supersite

Brendan Foot Motors has grown from a humble one-man company with 20 cars in stock into one of the largest and most respected car dealerships in the country.

Now a ‘Supersite’ with over 70 staff, Brendan Foot wanted a new website to reflect their growing service. From new or used car purchases to booking a service and ordering parts, their new website does it all, whilst maintaining the flavour of a family business. And because we built the website using the award-winning Joomla content management system, staff will be able to easily manage the site themselves. It's running like a dream. www.brendanfoot.co.nz

All-new Tales from Te Papa

Tales from Te Papa branding

School students around the country can now explore even more treasures held in trust by Te Papa, from a coral reef sculpture made from everyday cleaning materials and ceramics to a legendary bird that scared muttonbirders with its fearsome cry.

A further 20 education resources are now live on the Tales from Te Papa education resource website, making it 120 in total. The resource, which FitzBeck developed and built, has proved really popular in schools, where it is available on DVD and online. http://talesresource.tepapa.govt.nz/

Defining Māori literacy

Whakatipuranga_Arapiki_Ako Report

In recent years, tertiary education organisations throughout New Zealand have been building capacity in addressing adult literacy and numeracy. In response to sector debate about the interpretation of ‘Māori literacy’ within this context, Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi held hui attended by over 110 stakeholders.

Whakatipuranga Arapiki Ako, which we designed and printed for the Tertiary Education Commission, reports on the key findings from these hui, which focused on how context (Mātauranga Māori) and content (the deliberate teaching of literacy amd numeracy) connect to this terminology. www.literacyandnumeracyforadults.com/

Building on Our Abilities

Building on Our Abilities Logo

The Laura Fergusson Trust has been providing high quality disability services to the Wellington region for over 30 years. The Trust recently kicked off a three-year expansion programme, for which we drafted a communications strategy. An effective coms plan is the key to getting your message across in a consistent way to your target audiences. It helps you plan your communications approach and activities, and assign responsibilities and timelines. We wish the Trust all the best with their development project, ‘Building on Our Abilities’, and are proud to help them make an even greater contribution to their community.
