Boosting social workers’ registration

Social Workers' Registration Board Website

By being registered, social workers assure the public that they’re in safe and responsible hands. Registration is voluntary, so the Social Workers Registration Board is working hard to reduce the cost and complexity of becoming registered and encouraging more social workers to apply.

The Board wanted a new website that was fresh and professional, easier to use and which streamlined the application process. This is what we built.

We created a brand, wrote the content and designed the new website from scratch in a way that was easy to update and anyone could use. We also redesigned the registration forms to make them easier to use and created a part of the site that tells the public about their rights when receiving services from a registered social worker.

runs like a dream

Diocesan Car Fund Website

When you run a small business that serves a large client base, you really need a website that earns its keep. We built the Diocesan Car Fund website to reach more customers, sooner with the great range of deals the Car Fund offers.

Ray and his team are experts and this is another tool to keep building their business. There’s expert analysis of the market through Ray’s Radar, a video overview of the company and what it offers, an online newsletter and quicklinks to elsewhere. It also looks as smart as one of the cars in Ray’s fleet.

Too many websites are white elephants – slow and out of date. This one’s a cheetah! Runs like a dream and adds real value to a busy business.

Fair's Fair

An Evening with the Fair Trading Act DVD

Ever felt ripped off? You’re not alone. That’s why the Commerce Commission wanted a resource that would educate and inform anyone in the business of selling about what’s fair and what’s not.

We came up with a fresh, theatrical approach – An Evening with The Fair Trading Act – and teamed up with leading Wellington theatre troupe The Improvisors to produce a half-hour sketch show demonstrating the rules and pitfalls around fair trading. Humour was a vital ingredient to keep people watching and make the serious stuff easy to swallow.

FitzBeck managed the project from end to end – from scripting, casting and props, through to a shoot out at Avalon studios and doing the graphics and music.

The real success of this project was the close working partnership forged with Comcom staff. All the sketches were workshopped and rehearsed extensively with them prior to scripting. That’s what made it all work.

Spotlight on e-Learning

AKO Study image

e-Learning in its various forms is transforming the way New Zealand tertiary institutions teach and support their students. A recent New Zealand study shows a variety of ways that senior managers can work with specialist staff and demonstrate strong strategic leadership in this crucial fast-changing area.

Effective communication often requires the distillation of complex material. FitzBeck Creative was contracted to provide communications expertise in the presentation of the research report findings. A range of print and web materials, including many enlightening case studies, were produced.

Celebrating Achievements

Looking Back and Moving Foward logo

It's been a long time between conferences. Twenty one years after the Mental Health Foundation hosted the first Refugee and Resettlement Wellbeing Conference, a second conference in Auckland in July next year will put the spotlight on refugee wellbeing once again.

The event will be a celebration of achievements since 1988 as well as the chance to learn about new developments and share best practice. It is hoped there will be high levels of involvement from refugee communities.

FitzBeck Creative is delighted to have created the conference logo and is looking forward to providing communications support for this landmark event

Crucial Conversations

Mediating.co.nz

Paul Hutcheson specialises in helping people have difficult conversations. Conflict is a reality that many of us prefer to avoid, but problems left to fester never resolve themselves, says Paul. Learning the communications skills to deal with conflict situations is essential if we are going to have enjoyable and successful careers.

One of New Zealand’s most experienced mediators, Paul has handled more than 2,000 mediations in a career spanning 17 years. He offers mediation services, workplace relations audits, training in communication/conflict skills and one-on-one work coaching.

Creating a website is a team effort. A special challenge in this project was that Paul has a sight disability. FitzBeck Creative worked closely with Paul, talking through all visual, creative components and collaborating on structure and content. A lot of thought went into future-proofing the site to ensure it stays fresh and engaging.

Healthy Kai in GI

Yoyages - Health Kai in GI

The latest issue of Voyages magazine highlights the Healthy Kai in GI initiative which is educating retailers and consumers in Glen Innes about healthier food choices and alternatives to fatty and fried food. Sharing best practice and new ideas has been identified as hugely important for building the capacity of the Pacific Health sector and improving health outcomes.

FitzBeck Creative has developed Voyages magazine and website to connect this incredibly diverse sector and
inform people of the latest developments in Pacific health.

This raises a topical issue – print or web? Our advice – use the strengths of both. You simply can't dump lengthy documents on the web as PDFs and call it communication. That's archiving. But the web does provides a genuine opportunity to two-way dialogue, networking and much more regular communication as long as your content is fresh and fit for purpose. Its horses for courses.
